The essence of Tenkara is found in its simplicity and perfection of presentation. This is a fundamental approach to all things Japanese. I have created these rod cases in a way that reflects the Tenkara way of fly-fishing. I hope you are as pleased with owning one, as I am in making them.

These painted cases are truly exquisite. The bamboo is sanded, fired, then the images are engraved. A base coat is applied, sanded, and sealed. A top coat is then applied, and sanded to reveal portions of the base coat. Gold accents are then applied into the engravings. The entire case is then polished with Butchers wax. The final stages involve the accent wrapping, and fitting of the cap and tassel. They truly look like Museum pieces. Then select a cradle for your case found on our " Cradle" page. These cradles are works of art in their own right. What an incredible presentation they make. Each case and cradle are "ONE OF A KIND." We have now been experimenting with new finishes.
